PROVO, Utah – BYU baseball has finalized its 2019 season schedule. The lineup features four nonconference series, a tournament in Texas and the West Coast Conference schedule.

“Scheduling is more than just calling opponents and adding games to the schedule,” said BYU head coach Mike Littlewood. “Coach Pratt and I work very closely together to build the schedule year to year. To say we have our work cut out for us this season may be an understatement, but if we play and beat these great programs we have a great opportunity to build our RPI and set a foundation for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.”

BYU will open the season on Feb. 15-16 in a two-game series against Big Ten foe Northwestern. The teams will face off at Sloan Park, the Chicago Cubs spring training facility, in Mesa, Arizona. BYU will stay in Arizona to take on Cal the following Monday, Feb. 18.

The following weekend the Cougars will play three games in Corpus Christi, Texas, first taking on the home team before playing Ohio State and Oral Roberts. Both OSU and ORU were NCAA Tournament teams from last season.

After playing a three-game series at Lamar in Beaumont, Texas, the Cougars will host their first home game of the season when they play Utah Valley on March 5, one of two games against the Wolverines in 2019. That ensuing weekend, the Milwaukee Panthers will come to Provo for four games in three days.

BYU will travel to compete against 2018 College World Series participant Washington in the middle of WCC play April 18-20 in its final nonconference weekend series of the year.

“Challenging yourself and winning tough games early in the season is what a nonconference schedule is all about,” Littlewood said.

The Cougars play at defending WCC champion Gonzaga to open conference action on March 14. This year in WCC play BYU will host Portland, Saint Mary’s, Pepperdine and San Francisco while playing on the road at Gonzaga, San Diego, Pacific, Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara.

BYU will play at rival Utah on April 2 and May 14 and will host the Utes on April 9. Other early-week nonconference games include a home contest against Oregon and road games at Cal and defending MWC champion San Diego State.
