PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s golf released the schedule for the program’s inaugural season as a member of the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Head coach Bruce Brockbank is entering his 32nd season at the program's helm and brings a ten-man squad into the Big 12 era.
The Cougar team consists of seniors Keanu Akina, Max Brenchley, Brock Goyen, and Cole Ponich, with juniors Zac Jones and Tyson Shelley, who both played in all 14 tournaments of the 2022-23 season for the Cougars.
Head coach Bruce Brockbank signed junior transfer Simon Kwon from the University of California, Berkeley, just days after he won the 125th Utah State Amateur Championship. Angus Klintworth redshirted last season and will be joined by freshmen Cooper Jones and Peter Kim.
“This is an exciting time for BYU Athletics and our golf program,” said BYU director of golf Todd Miller. “Our BYU golf alumni, donors and fans have shown a lot of interest in our team and the changes with entering the Big 12. Every year, our team, as well as our players out on tour, are gaining momentum, experience and confidence. We have a deep roster of guys who are committed to greatness. They work hard and love BYU. For all those reasons, I’ve never been more excited to start a season and see what we can accomplish.”
