Shelley won the tournament with 96 Stableford points, scoring 49 on Saturday and 47 on Sunday. The junior carded 13 birdies and one eagle throughout the 36-hole event.
“I played consistently throughout the two days,” Shelley said. “I was confident with the putter and was fortunate to make a few long putts early on Sunday at Bloomington, which gave me momentum for the rest of the round.”
Lincoln Markham, a 2024 signee, took 11th in the tournament with 87 Stableford points, while former Cougar Elijah Turner took 23rd. Recent transfer Simon Kwon tied for 52nd.
Women’s Golf
Long took home the women’s championship with 88 Stableford points, with 45 on Saturday and 43 on Sunday. With 11 birdies, Long was able to hold off teammate Lily McCauley, who finished with 80 Stableford points and eight birdies.
“Berlin is a great golfer and a great competitor, but also one of my best friends,” said McCauley. “We push each other to get better day in and day out, and I’m so thankful to be on this journey with her. I’m so happy and proud of her for her performance this weekend.”
“I had a two-point lead going into the last round, and we knew it would be a battle,” Long continued. “Even though it was neck and neck, we still had fun with each other and were making jokes the whole time. We are both competitive and want to win, but I always know that no matter the outcome, we will be happy for one another! When competing against teammates, friends, and even siblings, I go into the rounds doing all I can to play my best and hoping that my best golf will win.”
The women's golf team will be back in collegiate action Mar. 25-26 at the Fresno State Classic.
