SANTA CRUZ, Calif.—The BYU men’s golf team will compete at Pasatiempo Golf Course in the 77th Western Intercollegiate Tournament April 15-17. Play will be spread across three days on the par 70, 6,615-yard course.

"BYU golf has enjoyed the privilege of playing the Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo for many years," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "There is a great history of tour players who have won the event. Pasatiempo is one of a handful of courses designed by Alister MacKenzie, who also designed Augusta National, ensuring a challenge. The team is excited about the challenging course and the great field of teams at one of the top collegiate events in the country!"

The Western is the longest-running golf tournament, dating back to 1947. BYU golf is the fourth-winningest team in the history of the Western Conference, having won the event seven times in program history. (‘68, ‘70, ‘71, ‘75, ‘76, ‘78, ‘81) BYU teams have also earned three runner-up finishes, 23 top 5s and have never finished outside the top 10 in 33 trips to Pasatiempo.

Six Cougars have won the individual competition at the Western, including current head coach Bruce Brockbank in 1988.

Regarding Brockbank’s win, hall of fame coach Karl Tucker said, "It was one of the great wins we’ve ever had for an individual even though we’ve had other Cougars win the event in years past.”

The tournament will be broadcast on GOLF Channel and Peacock, beginning with three hours of live coverage at 4 pm PDT on Monday. Live scoring can also be found on GolfStat.com
