FARMINGTON, Utah – Cooper Jones, Max Brenchley, Peter Kuest, Carson Lundell and Daniel Summerhays will play the weekend at the Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship after making the 36-hole cut on Friday at Oakridge Country Club.
Jones carded a 5-under 66 and a 4-under 67 for a 133 total to sit in a tie for 26th after the first two rounds. In round one, the freshman made five birdies followed by a seven-birdie performance on Friday to make the cut.
Daniel Summerhays, the 2020 Utah Championship runner-up, shot a 7-under 64 in round one, recording an eagle on par-4 hole 17. He finished round two with a 3-under 68, recording four birdies enroute to a 132 36-hole total. He enters the weekend in a tie for 15th.
Peter Kuest is tied for 49th, after shooting 2-under in round one with a 5-under 66 in round two. Kuest had an eventful Friday as he recorded three birdies, an eagle and an albatross to make the cut by a single shot.
In his first year on the Korn Ferry tour, Carson Lundell went 2-under 69 and 4-under 67 in the first two days. In round two, Lundell recorded six birdies, with four on the front nine and two on the back nine to make the cut on the number.
Recent graduate Max Brenchley will tee off Saturday with a starting score of 136. He posted an even-par 71 in the opening round before a 6-under 66 in Friday’s round to sit in a tie for 66th with Lundell.
Cole Ponich failed to make the 36-hole cut after a 1-over 72 on Thursday and 2-under 69 on Friday.
The Cougars return to Oakridge on Saturday morning with the third round being broadcast live on the Golf Channel beginning at 1 p.m. MST. Live scoring can be found on the Korn Ferry tour website.
