PROVO, Utah — The women's tennis team attained their first Big 12 victory of the season on Thursday with four singles wins, continuing their undefeated record at home. Freshman Sue Yan Tan clinched the match with a three-set singles victory.
"We brought great energy and played with a lot of heart today," said assistant coach Anastasia Hayden. "Every match was a battle, and I'm proud of the girls for owning their court and playing to win. "
The Cougars are now 11-5 this season, with a 6-0 record at home and a 1-2 record for in-conference play.

Levelston and Tullis took the first doubles match with a quick 6-1 set. The other two doubles teams fought to secure the doubles point for BYU, but Kovick and Bluestein were defeated 6-4.
After multiple games that went to deuce, Huang and Tan also lost their match, giving the Buffaloes an advantage going into the round of singles play.

Kovick and Huang gave the Cougars their first lead of the match with two singles victories in two sets each. Levelston gained an early 3-1 lead in the first set but ultimately lost the match in two sets, tying the match 2-2.
After a first-set tiebreak victory, Bluestein regained the advantage for BYU with a 7-6 6-2 win to put the team up 3-2.
Tan and Smith each lost the first set, and after a second set of back-and-forth breaks, Smith lost her second set 6-4. Tan came back in the second set with only one game lost, and she took the third set 6-3, clinching the match 4-3.
