PROVO, Utah — BYU softball’s Ilove’a Brittingham and Lily Owens were named to D1Softball’s Preseason Outfielder Rankings, the outlet announced on Friday morning.
The duo checked in at No. 11 and No. 21, respectively, and are two of five Big 12 outfielders featured on the 25-player list.
Brittingham has also earned a No. 14 utility player ranking from Softball America and was tabbed No. 49 on D1Softball’s D100 Preseason Player Rankings. The catcher/outfielder was named an NFCA Third Team All-American last season after breaking the Cougars’ freshman RBI record with 69.
Owens was selected to the All-Big 12 First Team last season after posting BYU’s second-best batting average (.354) and recording a .979 fielding percentage with 41 putouts and five assists. She was also named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team as a sophomore in 2024.
Brittingham and Owens join Hailey Morrow, Kaiya Fabela and Rita Tavita as the five Cougars to receive national preseason recognition. BYU begins the 2026 season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.
