TEMPE, Ariz. – BYU swim and dive took fifth at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center Saturday following the weekend’s conference meet.

"After three consecutive weeks on the road, our team pushed through an intense stretch of competitions the last 2 days and faced some of the strongest programs in our conference," head coach Tamber McAllister said. "Despite the demanding travel schedule and high‑caliber opponents, the team showed up with resilience, determination, and drive to touch the wall first when they found themselves in a close race."

Swimming
Sophomore Lucy Warnick opened things for the Cougars, earning second place in the 200 individual medley at 2:01.51. She was followed by freshman Brinley Knoll, who took 2:03.10, earning an 11th-place finish.

Haylee Tiffany then finished fourth in the 100 freestyle at 50.30. Tatum Cooley competed in the event as well, securing a 12th-place finish at 50.61, and Lily Flint followed in 15th at 51.07.

The next event saw Lucy Marek take fifth in the 200 butterfly at 2:04.41. Elle Decker, Sarah Eliason and Abril Arias also swam in the event, taking 17th, 18th and 20th.

Senior Katya Hulse took fifth in the 200 backstroke at 2:02.00. Emma Marusakova followed just behind at 2:02.04.

The final event of the meet was the 400 freestyle relay. The BYU A team — composed of Tiffany, Cooley, Kara Martinson and Victoria Schreiber — took sixth at 3:22.98. The B team — composed of Taylor Bennett, Flint, Sophie Scoville and Eliason — earned eight at 3:24.27.

Diving
Freshman Betty Martin competed in the 1-meter event, scoring 203.00 and earning 25 points for the Cougars in a fifth-place finish.

BYU will compete in its first home meet of the season as they welcome Air Force and CMU to Provo on Jan. 23–24, with competition beginning at 5 p.m. MST Friday.
