Cougars set for Big 12 Indoor Championships

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s track and field heads to Lubbock, Texas to compete at the Big 12 Indoor Championships hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center on Feb. 27-28.

The Cougars enter the post season having tallied 17 top 10 all-time BYU performances through the regular season, including two school record breaking finishes. BYU has also claimed one weekly Big 12 award this season.

After breaking his own record in the indoor mile just two weeks prior, BYU school record holder Carter Cutting is expected to return to the event to compete for the title of Big 12 champion alongside teammate Max Davis.

True freshman and indoor 3000-meter BYU school record holder Tayvon Kitchen will return to action in the event joined by No. 3 all-time BYU record holder Isaac Hedengren, Thomas Boyden, Davis, No. 6 all-time record holder Creed Thompson, Brayden Packard and No. 9 all-time BYU athlete Noah Jenkins

Current BYU record holder for the Heptathlon and All-American Ben Barton is expected to vie for the Big 12 title in the Heptathlon after finishing as the runner-up during the 2025 indoor season. He will be joined by No. 5 all-time BYU record holder Jaden Roskelley as well as Kaden Passey.

From the Hurdles group, No. 3 all-time BYU athlete in the 60-meter hurdles Logan Hubler will make an appearance in the event alongside Jayden Jessee and Garrett Copelin. Jessee will also compete in the long jump. Hubler will also appear in the 200-meter with teammate Brayden Dahl.

The middle distance squad will be represented by Jake Orr and Jacob Robison in the 600-yard dash. Packard and Tyler Sainsbury will also represent the group in the 1000-meter. Jumpers Carter Walker and Connor Saunders are expected to appear in the high jump.

The throws group will feature Peyton Williams and Erik Bryant in the weight throw with Tyler Poole joining them in the shot put on Saturday. Silas Zimmerman and Dallin Thornton will appear in the pole vault.

Jenkins, who holds the No.7 all-time BYU record in the indoor 5000-meter is entered in the event with appearances expected from teammates Boyden, Davis and Hedengren. The distance medley relay team will feature Cutting, Dahl, Packard and Kitchen.

The championship meet rounds out with the 4x400-meter relay where BYU will be represented by Dahl, Copelin, Hubler and Jonah Heimuli
