WACO, Texas – No. 32 BYU defeated No. 38 Baylor 4-3 Thursday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center, clinching the match in a third-set tiebreak on the final court.

With the match tied 3-3, Gracie Levelston and No. 48 Na Dong entered a third-set tiebreak at No. 1 singles. An overrule on the opening point resulted in a game penalty assessed to Baylor, awarding the deciding point to BYU and securing the match.

BYU earned the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. No. 59 duo of Kendall Kovick and Levelston defeated Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas 6-4 on Court 1, while Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan clinched the point with a 7-5 win over Luna Ivkovic and Neda Rahimkhani on Court 3. Baylor’s No. 48 Na Dong and Alian Zack defeated Sage Bergeson and YuYun Chen 6-4 on Court 2.

In singles, Levelston defeated No. 48 Na Dong 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-0) on Court 1. No. 120 Kubacha defeated Kovick 6-4, 6-1 on Court 2, and Tan defeated Kennedy Gibbs 6-4, 6-1 on Court 3.

Chen defeated Zack 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 on Court 4 to give BYU its third point. Baylor picked up wins on the final two courts, with Mu Jie Tzeng defeating Bergeson 6-4, 6-0 on Court 5 and Ivkovic defeating Karina Mohamed 6-3, 6-3 on Court 6.

BYU improved to 18-4 on the season with the win, while Baylor fell to 11-7.
