TAMPA, Florida — Eleven BYU football upperclassmen were included on the 2027 Shriners Children's 1,000 Watch List announced by the Shriners Children's East-West Bowl. The watchlist identifies the nation's top NFL draft eligible players for the 2026 college football season.
Representing BYU on the list is safety Raider Damuni, offensive lineman Andrew Gentry, linebacker Isaiah Glasker, cornerback Evan Johnson, running back LJ Martin, center Bruce Mitchell, safety Faletau Satuala, defensive end Bodie Schoonover, offensive lineman Kyle Sfarcioc, defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa and linebacker Cade Uluave.
The Shriners Children's 1,000 is designed to highlight player achievements as well as future NFL potential. The list is the foundation and starting point for deciding who will participate in the 2027 Shriners Children's East-West Bowl.
The 101st edition of the East-West Shrine Bowl Game is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2027, at 6 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The game will be televised nationally on NFL Network.
Held annually since 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl provides an opportunity for the best college football players to showcase their talents in front of scouts and executives of all 32 NFL teams.
Beginning with Reed Nilsen in 1947, 72 former BYU football players have played in the annual all-star game, including wide receiver Chase Roberts and deep snapper Garrison Grimes who represented the Cougars in the game last January in Frisco, Texas. In addition, former BYU hall of fame coach LaVell Edwards was the head coach of the West Team five times (1980, 1985, 1986, 1991, 1994).
The East-West Shrine Bowl benefits Shriners Children's and its mission to provide advanced pediatric specialty care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of the families’ ability to pay or insurance status.
