PROVO, Utah — The 2026 BYU football team continues to prepare for the upcoming season with week two of fall camp and the NFL starting its first full week of preseason games.
BYU practiced Tuesday morning and will have Wednesday as an off day from the practice field but will still hold meetings and conduct their annual team photo day in the afternoon.
BYU currently has 21 former players on NFL rosters. Most recently, linebacker Jack Kelly was drafted by the New York Giants in the 2026 NFL Draft while tight end Carsen Ryan was selected in the seventh round by the Cleveland Browns. In addition to two draft picks from last year's team, wide receiver Chase Roberts, safety Tanner Wall, offensive tackle Isaiah Jatta and Mory Bamba are on NFL rosters as undrafted free agents.

Four-time All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner is one of the top linebackers in the NFL who leads a San Francisco 49ers defense eager to help the team win its first Super Bowl since another BYU Cougar led the 49ers, quarterback Steve Young in Super Bowl XXIX in 1995.
Warner was originally drafted by the 49ers in the third round (70th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout his eight-year career, he has started in all 121 games he has appeared in and registered 948 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 56 passes defensed, 10 interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), 17 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. He has also started in 12 postseason contests and recorded 97 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
A four-time Associated Press First-Team All-Pro (2020, 2022-24) and Pro Bowl selection (2021, 2023-25), Warner has led the 49ers in total tackles in each seven of his eight seasons and ranks second in franchise history in total tackles with 948, two behind all-time leader Patrick Willis (950).

Nacua, a 2025 First-team All-Pro selection, two-time Pro Bowler and All-Rookie Team honoree, caught 79 passes for 990 yards and three touchdowns in his second year in the league despite playing in only 11 games. Nacua set all sorts of rookie records with 105 receptions and 1,486 yards in 2023.

Nacua has been one of the league's most unguardable wide receivers since entering the NFL.

BYU's trio of experienced NFL offensive lineman are continuing to make noise in the league, with Brady Christensen, Blake Freeland and Kingsley Suamataia.
Christensen has played in 59 games with the Carolina Panthers since 2021, including 34 starts, mostly at guard and just signed a one-year extension in Carolina. Freeland has seen action in 25 games with the Indianapolis Colts, including nine starts as a rookie while Kingsley Suamataia started all 17 games last season in his second year with the Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs are still led by BYU alum Andy Reid, heading into his 28th year as an NFL head coach and 14th with the Chiefs. Reid's 279 career wins are the most among any active head coach and No. 4 all-time in NFL history.
Reid has taken Kansas City to five Super Bowls, winning three, including back to back wins in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII. His total of four Super Bowl titles (three as a head coach and one as an assistant) is tied among all BYU alum for the most Super Bowl rings as a player or a coach.
Running back Tyler Allgeier signed a new deal with the Arizona Cardinals after spending his first four years as a key part of the Atlanta Falcons offense. Allgeier had 676 rushes, 2,876 yards and 18 touchdowns to go along with 61 receptions, 516 yards and two more scores during his time as a Falcon.
Punter Ryan Rehkow signed an extension with the Bengals after his rookie season and continues to be one of the top legs in the NFL, averaging 50.5 yards per punt for the 2025 season.
Safety Zayne Anderson signed with the Miami Dolphins and running back Chris Brooks remains with the Green Bay Packers. Quarterback Kedon Slovis signed with his hometown Arizona Cardinals in 2025 and appeared in two games on the active roster last year.
Second-year players Tyler Batty and Jakob Robinson continue their NFL careers with the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.
Quarterback Zach Wilson and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga both signed with new teams in 2026. Wilson joined the New Orleans Saints and Tonga signed a multi-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Tonga helped the New England Patriots get to the Super Bowl last season, starting eight games.
