LUBBOCK, Texas — BYU women’s golf will compete in the Red Raider Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 22-23, at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
Seniors María José “MJ” Barragán, Whitney Banz and Berlin Long will headline BYU’s starting lineup alongside freshmen Kate Walker and Tatum Otto. Otto made her collegiate debut at The Bruzzy earlier this month and will make her first team start in Lubbock. Sophomore Nya Palmer will compete as an individual.
BYU joins 11 other teams in the field, including tournament host Texas Tech, Abilene Christian, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, New Mexico, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington and UTEP.
The Cougars will play 36 holes on Tuesday before an 18-hole final round on Wednesday.
BYU is coming off a ninth-place finish at The Bruzzy presented by Ashley Herrera to open the season. Barragán shot a career-best 9 under to finish sixth individually.
