Set 1
Tied at three, BYU scored four straight to open up an 8-2 run, forcing a Boise State timeout at 11-5. A 9-0 run that featured kills from five different Cougars then had BYU leading 19-6 as the Broncos took their second timeout.
The Cougar middles closed things out down the stretch for a 25-12 opening set win. Burgess led the way with four kills in the frame. Mortensen, Hardy, Little Chambers and Buttars each added three as BYU hit .486 as a team.
Set 2
The Cougars used a pair of 3-0 runs, including a solo span from Prior, to open up an early 10-4 lead. After BSU drew within three, two Little Chambers kills and another by Mortensen put BYU in front 15-9 at the media timeout.
A pair of Mortensen kills were followed up by two aces from the outside hitter, forcing a Boise State timeout at 20-11. Prior and Hardy combined for their second double block of the set, and a Buttars-Burgess roof wrapped up the second, 25-15, with the Cougars hitting .636 in the set.
Set 3
Another pair of 3-0 runs got BYU started in the third, with a Little Chambers-Hardy double block forcing a Boise State timeout at 9-5. Kills by Little Chambers and Prior, as well as a Prior-Burgess double block, pushed the Cougars to a 15-11 advantage.
Hardy and Anna Blamires landed kills before a Blamires-Burgess double block brought up the Broncos' second timeout at 20-14. A 5-1 BSU run then had Boise State within two and BYU called a timeout in front 21-19.
Two Buttars kills helped the Cougars respond, but a 3-0 Bronco run tied the set at 23. Mortensen gave BYU match point, which the Boise State fought off once, before a Hardy kill and BSU error sealed the set and match, 26-24.
