Before BYU

• Competed in both cross country and track in high school
• Lettered four years in cross country
• A three year state qualifier, the Palomar League Champion in 2004-2006
• San Diego Section CIF Champion in 2005-2006
• In 2004, won the Third-Team All-Western Region and the Second-Team All-Western Region in 2005
• In 2006, named the San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month
• Won the Joe Brooks Award in 2006-2007
• Also in 2006-2007, named San Diego's Hall of Champions Runner of the Year and XC All-Academic Team Captain in 2008
• Served as the LCC Varsity Team Captain in 2007, and an All-Academic Team Scholar Athlete
• Four-year letter winner in track and a four-year state qualifier
• In 2005, was the Palomar League Runner-Up for the 1600m and 3200m
• League Champion in 2006-2007 and the CIF Champion for the 1600m and 3200m
• Placed ninth at state in 2006 for the 1600m
• Placed sixth in 2007 for the 3200m, named Today's Local News All-Star and an All-American Team Scholar Athlete
• Ran personal best in the 1600m in 4:56.2 and ran the 3200m in 10:36.58
