The Top Performers of the Week feature highlights the top athletes of each sport currently in play. Check back each week to see which athletes are standing out in Cougar sports.

Tyler Haws – Men's Basketball – Freshman – Alpine, Utah

Tyler Haws led BYU to a 2-0 record with wins over Wyoming (81-66 at home) and San Diego State (71-69 on the road). Haws averaged 20.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting .636 from the field, .778 from three and 1.000 from the free throw line. Against Wyoming he had a career-best 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, 4-of-5 shooting from three and 4-of-4 shooting from the free throw line. He also added six rebounds and one block. He scored eight of BYU's first 14 points for a 14-9 lead on two threes and two free throws. He later hit a three and a jumper to give the Cougars a double-digit lead in the second half at 48-37. He extended the lead to 17 on a jumper (54-37) and later hit a three to make it 18 (63-45). After a Wyoming rally to cut the BYU lead to 10, Haws registered a block and a layup to push the lead back to 14 at 68-54. At San Diego State Haws scored 17 points to go with four rebounds and two assists. He hit 6-of-10 from the field, 3-of-4 from three and 2-of-2 from the line. He scored BYU's first five points on a three and a jumper to give the Cougars a 5-2 lead. He gave BYU its biggest lead of the game on a three to make it 22-10. Haws finished the first half with 10 points. After SDSU took the lead early in the second half Haws hit two free throws to help BYU regain the lead at 41-40. Later he registered an assist and hit a three for a 5-0 run to give the Cougars a 52-50 lead. Later he hit a jumper to make it 52-43.

Kristen Riley – Women's Basketball – Sophomore – San Clemente, Calif.

In the win over league leading SDSU, Riley recorded her first double double of her career with team highs in points (16) and in rebounds (11), eight of which were offensive. The boards were game highs and season and career highs as well. Riley was also perfect from both the free throw line (4-4) and from behind the arc (2-2) and scored the first five points for the Cougars in the win over SDSU. The 16 points mark her seventh double digit outing of the season and her three steals tie for season and career highs as well. In the game at Wyoming she scored eight points and led the team in rebounds with seven and she was also perfect from the line (2-2). On the team, Riley has started in all games, ranks fourth in points averaging 8.9 per game, second in the rebound category grabbing 5.5 boards per game, and second in blocks with a total of 12 to date.

Megan Price – Women's Tennis – Sophomore – Castle Hill, Australia

Megan Price started the season with strong performances against Washington State. The sophomore partnered with classmate McCall Jones to clinch the doubles point at the No. 1 position, which made all the difference for the Cougars. Price went on in singles to lose the first set on court five. While Price played, the teams split the rest of the matches causing a 3-3 tie. She was able to come back and win the match and earn BYU's first victory of the season.

Andrew Stewart – Men's Volleyball – Senior – Sandy, Utah

Outside hitter Andrew Stewart recorded a combined 39 kills as No. 5 BYU hosted No. 3 Stanford in a two-match series last weekend. The senior came up one kill shy of his career record as the Cougars defeated the Cardinal, 3-1, in front of 4,409 fans in the Smith Fieldhouse on Friday. He also picked up 12 digs, completing his fifth career double-double. Despite losing 3-1 on Saturday, Stewart was a major contributor with 18 kills on the night. He opened with nine kills in the first set, including three straight to give BYU a 13-11 lead on way to a 30-20 win. In a second set that saw 14 tied scores, Stewart sparked a 7-1 BYU run to bring up set-point for the Cougars.
