Georgy Batrakov – Men's Tennis – Sophomore – Yaroslavl, Russia
Georgy Batrakov made a big impact for the No. 60 BYU Cougars in their upset of No. 53 Denver. Batrakov and Daniel Hwang battled to a 9-8 win at the No. 3 position to clinch a crucial doubles point for BYU. The sophomore went on to earn one of the only three singles victories the Cougars needed to defeat the Pioneers. Against Drake, Batrakov recorded wins in both singles and doubles to complete a perfect 4-0 weekend.
Jazmine Foreman – Women's Basketball – Junior – Vancouver, Wash.
Jazmine Foreman scored a team- and game-high 17 points against Air Force, recording her ninth season and 15th career double-figure game. The points were the third-best scoring output in league play to date for her. She shot .600 (6-10) from the field for her best percentage of the season and career and had five steals, which are the most in league action to date. The win over the Falcons keeps the Cougars in second place in the latest MWC standings with a 7-3 record.
Jonathan Tavernari – Men's Basketball – Senior – Sao Bernardo, Brazil
Jonathan Tavernari led BYU to a 91-48 victory over Air Force with a game-high 19 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Tavernari hit 6-of-10 from the field, 5-of-7 from downtown and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Tavernari hit four-straight threes in a two-minute span in the first half to help the Cougars extend to a 27-12 lead with 10:10 remaining in the first half. He later hit a three at the 7:11 mark to make it 32-12 BYU. In the first half Tavernari finished with 17 points, hit all five of his attempts from three and added four points and two assists. Tavernari's efforts helped BYU secure a 53-20 halftime lead. BYU's point total is the most allowed by Air Force this season and the loss is the worst conference loss in Falcon history.
Angela Wager – Women's Track – Senior – Centurion, Pretoria
Distance runner Angela Wagner provisionally qualified for NCAA Indoor Nationals in the 800-meter race this weekend at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Washington. Wagner finished second among collegiate competitors in the event, with a season-best time of 2:05.72. The senior's time ranks third in the Mountain West Conference, trailing only teammates Lacey Cramer and Nachelle Stewart by less than a second. Wagner is one of the senior leaders for the No. 12-ranked women's track team, and will lead the team into conference by competing in the 800-meters and distance medley relay.
