BYU drops to 0-5 in Boise with the loss to the Broncos and 2-7 overall in the series.
Spreading it around
The Cougar offense featured 10 receivers getting at least one reception in the game. It is the fifth time this season BYU has connected to 10 different receivers. Five of them had multiple catches.
PLAYER NOTES
Zach Wilson
Wilson threw for a career-best 252 yards on 18 of 27 passing. He also added 36 yards rushing and one rushing touchdown. He connected on a career-best 59-yard pass on a screen catch and run from Matt Hadley.
Talon Shumway
Shumway led the team in receiving with 62 yards on just three catches. The highlight was a 42-yard diving grab in the second half.
Matt Hadley
Hadley had 98 total yards with 39 yards rushing and one catch and run reception for 59 yards.
Corbin Kaufusi
Kaufusi had six total tackles and had one sack and one pass breakup. He leads the team this season with 7.5 total sacks on the year.
Michael Shelton
Shelton recorded his first interception of the year and third of his career. He returned it 31 yards. He also added six tackles and an 11-yard punt return.
Skyler Southam
Southam kicked three field goals in the game. He connected from 43, 41 and 26. He has hit four field goals of 40 yards or more this season.

"It was a pretty exciting game wasn’t it? Bottom line, we found away to win. They showed a lot of guts. We made one more play than they did to win the game. I will say this: I’m really proud of our team and there’s a lot of respect for BYU. Their kids played extremely hard. It was an interesting game. There was a lot of momentum changes and stoppage of momentum with penalties. There were a lot of yellow hankies on the field tonight.

“I didn’t see a lot of scoring. We wanted to run the ball and try to chew up as much as we could. They had three timeouts. They were packed in there pretty good and I wanted a shot. I wanted a go ball. That falls solely on me. It’s worked before and it doesn’t work and that’s how it goes.
"They were dropping eight into coverage quite a bit tonight and letting their defensive line and linebackers come up and fill. Their defensive line played well. When you have guys like that play that well, and have really good size, you can drop eight. It’s hard to find ways to throw."
