POSTGAME QUOTES

Kalani Sitake, BYU head coach

“Congratulations to Boise for winning the game. Proud of how hard our guys fought but we needed to make one more play and we failed to do that. We will just get ready for the next one and learn from our mistakes in this game. I’m just really proud of our guys and how hard they played but this one hurt a little bit.”

(On what he told his team after the game)

“That I was proud of them, proud of how hard they worked. We made too many mistakes as a team. You can’t make that many mistakes against a good team like Boise and expect to win.

But I’m proud of the fact that they worked hard and fought which is why we had a chance at the end.”

Zach Wilson, BYU freshman quarterback

“I thought we moved it well, I thought we moved it well all night. It’s too bad to come out short right there, and you learn something new every day. You learn and you grow and you watch film and you go fix it.”

(On the final play)

“I was just thinking check both my routes whichever one I had open was going to be there. A freshman mistake I guess people would call it. But I have to know that. I have to hold myself accountable and make that play right there and it’s too bad we came up short.”

Matt Hadley, BYU senior running back

(On the attitude of the team in the locker room after the game)

“Heads up, (we’ve) got to keep our heads up. There’s still a lot to fight for and we understand that and we aim to do that.”

Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin

"It was a pretty exciting game wasn’t it? Bottom line, we found away to win. They showed a lot of guts. We made one more play than they did to win the game. I will say this: I’m really proud of our team and there’s a lot of respect for BYU. Their kids played extremely hard. It was an interesting game. There was a lot of momentum changes and stoppage of momentum with penalties. There were a lot of yellow hankies on the field tonight.

(On offensive woes in the second half)

“I didn’t see a lot of scoring. We wanted to run the ball and try to chew up as much as we could. They had three timeouts. They were packed in there pretty good and I wanted a shot. I wanted a go ball. That falls solely on me. It’s worked before and it doesn’t work and that’s how it goes.

"They were dropping eight into coverage quite a bit tonight and letting their defensive line and linebackers come up and fill. Their defensive line played well. When you have guys like that play that well, and have really good size, you can drop eight. It’s hard to find ways to throw."

Brett Rypien, BSU senior quarterback

(On the dynamic between the offense and defense)

“You have to play well with each other, and you know you look at last week and maybe we picked them up a little bit when they were struggling in the first half there and then they picked us up tonight when they needed to”

Jabrill Frazier, BSU senior linebacker

(On the final plays of the game)

“We had some adversity hit us and we had to be ready to go back out there and I feel like the defense did a great job having our backs against the wall just going out there and being ready to play”
