Wilson, Allgeier named to CFPA National Performer of the Year watch list

CFPA ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER 2020 WATCH LIST

CHARLESTON, South Carolina (Nov. 10, 2020) — BYU quarterback Zach Wilson and running back Tyler Allgeier were named Tuesday to the College Football Performance Awards November 2020 watch list for the CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy.

The list includes 38 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision. All FBS players are eligible for the award.

This season Wilson has totaled 2,512 passing yards and leads the nation in total points responsible for with 184. He is tied for No. 1 nationally in passing touchdowns (22) as well as rushing scores (8) among signal callers. Among his many top ratings, Wilson also ranks No. 2 in passing yards (2,512), No. 4 in completion percentage (.751) and No. 5 in pass efficiency (201.6). When considering efficiency ratings of players who have played in more than one game, Wilson is in elite company forming an efficiency top three with fellow Heisman hopefuls Justin Fields of Ohio State (222.4) and Mac Jones of Alabama (210.3). 

Allgeier leads BYU in rushing with 729 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 102 yards as a receiver for 101.5 all-purpose yards per game. Nationally, Allgeier ranks No. 11 in rushing touchdowns (9), No. 12 in rushing yards (710), No. 13 in rushing yards per carry (6.8) and No. 15 in total touchdowns (9). 

The 2020 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. The 2020 CFPA National Performer of the Year will be announced January 14, 2021.
