PROVO, Utah - Over 800 Cougar football alumni and family watched the 2012 BYU football team finish out spring practice with one final outdoor session on Friday afternoon.

Members of various Cougar squads from the past 50 years and beyond gathered to talk football and share memories on the gridiron as the current team put the finishing touches on spring camp.

As usual, several players got work and valuable reps. In 7-on-7 work the defense continued to step up, stopping several two-minute drill attempts by the offense. Linebacker Uona Kaveinga recorded an interception, as did defensive back O'neill Chambers. Chambers leaped in front of the wide receiver to make the grab, touching down just inside the back line of the end zone.

Quarterback Riley Nelson needed just two plays and wide receiver Cody Hoffman to get a score in the two-minute drill. On the first play Nelson found Hoffman over the middle for a diving 35-yard catch, setting up another quick strike to Hoffman in the corner of the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown on the next play.

Now that spring practices are officially over, the team will prep for next season with player-run practices throughout the summer before fall camp begins.
