Marriott Center matchup with CSU Bakersfield set for Thursday

BYU Game Notes

BYU will conclude the nonconference portion of the 2016-17 regular season with a matchup against CSU Bakersfield on Thursday at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. Thursday's game will be televised live on BYUtv and broadcast live on the Cougar IMG Sports Network, 102.7 FM/1160 AM and BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143.

BYU Storylines

  • Thursday’s matchup with CSU Bakersfield is BYU’s final nonconference game of the 2016-17 regular season. The Cougars open West Coast Conference action on Thursday, Dec. 29, at home against Santa Clara at 7 p.m. MST.
  • Freshman TJ Haws has scored in double figures in five-straight games. During that stretch he is averaging 14.8 points, 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals while hitting 11 of 28 (.393) from downtown.
  • Since being inserted into the starting lineup against Utah State, freshman Yoeli Childs has increased his production, averaging 9.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks while shooting 62.2 percent from the field. He has scored in double figures three times and posted double figure rebounds three times as a starter.
