Postgame Quotes

Gonzaga head coach Mark Few

On consistently winning against WCC teams by 30 points

Our guys are taking the game plans to heart and playing with great effort. For the most part, despite when we started out tonight, they have been taking care of the ball. When we take care of the ball we have a lot of different ways to score. Obviously, that is a big key and our defense has been getting better and better. It was very good tonight, especially in that first half.

On playing at the Marriott Center

We have played here a lot and our guys look forward to playing here. It is a big time venue and a big time team. I told the guys before that this is why you play college basketball, to come into an arena and environment like that. If you can win one like this on the road there is nothing better.

BYU guard TJ Haws

On if they did what they wanted to do in the first half

Absolutely. Early on we got good looks but we just didn’t make shots that we usually make. I thought right out of the gate we were locked in. I thought we were ready to go at the start.

BYU guard Connor Harding

On his first time playing Gonzaga

It was a good atmosphere. I just wish we would have made the plays we needed to make. Obviously, we put ourselves in situations where we could have had easy layups or shots. Overall it was rough, but we can bounce back. We are just glad there is a game on Saturday.

BYU head coach Dave Rose

On tonight's game

Congratulations to Mark and his team. They played really aggressive, and they executed well. We had a hard time on both sides of the ball. We started off with a nice steal and a couple pretty good defensive stops in the first minute or two, but we just had a hard time trying to convert. I think that hurt our confidence, but the guys hung in there pretty good and battled back.

On moving forward

We’ll get regrouped here, get to practice tomorrow. We face a really tough defensive team and we’re going to have our hands full on Saturday. We’ll need to execute a lot better on both ends of the floor.
