PROVO, Utah– BYU swim and dive fans will have their first chance to check out this season’s teams at the annual Blue and White swim meet Saturday, Sept. 19, at 9 a.m. MDT at the Richards Building Pool. The meet will cap off the team’s annual blue and white week.

“Blue and White week is something really cool that we do here,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “The Blue and White meet is the climax of all of the week’s activities. We have something going on everyday that the teams have to fight for, and the meet just gives us a good chance to see where everyone is at for the season.”

The meet will be the first event for the swim and dive teams during the 2015-2016 season, which will feature nine incoming freshmen from the men’s teams and seven from the women’s teams. This season’s teams will also feature nine swimmers and divers returning from missions.

The men’s team, which will look to win its third-straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title, returns multiple swimmers who competed at top levels over the summer. All-American Jake Taylor and All-MPSF swimmer Stephen Richards, who both competed at the Phillips 66 National Championships over the summer, will return for their senior seasons. Luis Ventura, who competed at the FINA World Championships of swimming, will also be returning to the team for his sophomore season.

The women’s team, which took fourth place at the MPSF Championships last season, will look to improve and meet the goal of winning an MSPF title. The team returns All-MPSF swimmer Anna Dahl and All-MPSF diver Ali Tippetts-Kottcamp.

Admission to the Blue and White meet is free and Cougar fans are invited to come see the team in its first action of the season.
