No. 12 BYU hosts No. 16 Pepperdine in senior night regular season finale

PORTLAND, Ore. —  No. 12 BYU women's soccer will host No. 16 Pepperdine on Saturday, Nov. 6 at South Field in a crucial West Coast Conference matchup in the final game of the regular season.

Saturday’s matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT on byutv.org and the BYUtv app. The game will also be carried live on the BYU Sports Network — BYU Radio 107.9 FM/BYU Cougars App.

In the WCC standings, BYU is currently in a tie for first place with Santa Clara. The Cougars will win at least a share of the WCC Championship title with a win over Pepperdine. In any scenario with co-champions, the Broncos hold the tiebreaker for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament due to wins over BYU and Pepperdine.

Mikayla Colohan, Cameron Tucker, Cassidy Smith, Grace Johnson, Makaylie Moore and Ashton Johnson will be honored on the field 20 minutes prior to game time for BYU's senior night.

IN THE RANKINGS. BYU is currently ranked No. 12 in this week's NCAA DI women's soccer poll. Additionally, BYU is ranked No. 19 in the Top Drawer Soccer college soccer national ranking.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. On Wednesday, the Cougars shut out Portland 3-0 during a rainy night on the pitch at Merlo Field. All three goals came from BYU reserves, with two from Bella Folino and one from Rachel McCarthy. BYU's first goal didn't come until the 32nd minute when McCarthy found the back of the net off an assist by Brecken Mozingo. Folino's two back-to-back goals occurred within three minute of each other in the 54th and 57th minutes. BYU shut out an opponent for the seventh time this season and took the season's goal total to 61. BYU ranks first in the NCAA in scoring offense with 3.59 goals per game, first in corner kicks per game with 10.00, first in total goals with 61 and third in assists per game with 3.35.

THE WAVES. The Waves are 15-2-1 coming off a 3-0 win against Pacific Wednesday, Nov 3. Pepperdine was on an 11-game winning streak this season until they lost to Santa Clara 4-0 on Oct. 20. The Waves have only lost one away game this season, with a 10-1-0 record on the road. Pepperdine's senior goalkeeper Zoe Clevely is currently ranked first out of all goalkeepers in the West Coast Conference with a .831 save percentage. Clevely is also first in goals against average with 0.56. The Waves have been ranked as high as No. 3 in the NCAA DI women's soccer poll this year.

COUGARS VS. WAVES. Overall, the Cougars are even against the Waves with a 6-6-0 overall record between the two programs all time. BYU is on a two-game winning streak with a 2-1 win in the 2020-21 season and a 5-1 win in 2019. In WCC play, the Cougars have beaten the Waves five times out of 10.
