PROVO, Utah – Five BYU women’s volleyball players received 2013 All-West Coast Conference honors on Tuesday.
Freshman middle blocker Whitney Young was selected as the 2013 WCC Freshman of the Year and added to the 2013 All-WCC freshman team.
Young led the WCC in blocks with an average of 1.55 per set (90 overall) in conference matches. She led the Cougars in blocks and helped BYU place second in conference play in opponent hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter Alexa Gray and senior middle blocker Kathryn LeCheminant were named to the 2013 All-WCC first team.
Gray was sixth in hitting percentage (.315 percent) and fifth in kills per set at 3.84 to lead BYU. LeCheminant recorded 1.50 blocks per set (third best in conference play) and hit a .302 percent clip.
This is Gray’s second consecutive year on the All-WCC first team.
Junior outside hitter Tambre Haddock and sophomore libero Ciara Parker were added to the 2013 All-WCC Honorable Mention team.
Haddock helped BYU in conference play with 3.46 kills per set and 2.65 digs per set. Parker contributed 4.28 digs per conference match (third best in conference play).
