First Look: Blue & White Game

The first chance to see the BYU women's soccer team that advanced all the way to the Elite Eight will be in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. this Friday night at South Stadium Field.

The game is free to the public and provides both fans and family an opportunity to watch the women's team compete in an intra-squad scrimmage. Coach Jen Rockwood intends on playing a full game with two 45-minute halfs.

Entering the 2004 season, the Cougars are a team full of young athletes. Returning to a team that has grown to 32 players, are 12 freshman and 10 sophomores. Seven juniors and only three seniors will help this young team to develop and improve upon last season's successful run.

The Cougars return 16 letterwinners (six starters) from the team that advanced all the way to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history. BYU, (16-7-3 overall, 4-2-0 in MWC play) finished the year with a No. 14 ranking and a fifth-place finish in the NCAA tournament.

Seven NCAA tournament participants and four top-25 teams highlight the BYU women's soccer season. The Cougar women will play a total of 20 games, 10 at home and 10 on the road.

Free magnets and team posters will be available for all those interested. The coaches and players will be available for autographs after the game.
