PROVO -- Freshman Austin Collie comes to BYU after a successful high school career in El Dorado Hills, Calif. with high expectations for himself and the Cougars. Already two games in to the season, and Cougar faithful are looking for great things to come.
He took a few minutes after practice to sit down and discuss his football goals, life and other facts the avid BYU football fan would want to know.
Q: Why did you decide to come to BYU to play football?
AC: This is the place I felt most comfortable because of my faith.
Q: How do you prepare for games? Do you have any superstitions?
AC: Basically, I'm not really superstitious, but I wear the same things every game, the same wrist bands.
Q: What are your goals coming into this season? What kind of impact do you expect to make as a freshman?
AC: I think my main goal is starting and being on the field.
Q: what do you hope the team accomplishes?
AC: I look for us to have a great season and go to a bowl game.
Q: In your opinion, what is the best football movie that has been made?
AC:The Program, it the most high intensity football action. The rest don't have much action.
Q: Do you play football video games?
AC: Of course, doesn't everyone?
Q: As a student athlete, how do you relax when you have the time?
AC: Sleep, all day. Whenever I can.
Q: What is your most memorable moment in your football career?
AC:Before this year, it would have been in high school when we won the sectional championship game in Sacramento.
Q: How did you get started playing football?
AC:My brother played in Las Vegas when he was seven. Then we moved to Sacramento and I started playing when I was eight.
Q: Did you and your brother beat up on each other?
AC: We got rowdy sometimes. We got after it a little bit.
