Washington's Lawrie Named MVP
PROVO -- University of Washington freshman pitcher Danielle Lawrie was named the Most Valuable Player of the Provo Regional NCAA Softball Tournament as voted upon by the media. BYU's Ashlyn Russell also received All-Tournament honors.
Lawrie, from Langley, British Columbia, posted a perfect 3-0 record while allowing no runs and only five hits. Lawrie also struck out 29 while walking just four. She struck out 13 in the tournament finale against Kansas.
Washington won three straight in the Provo Regional to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals next week at a site to be determined.
