2006 Schedule Announced

PROVO -- BYU women's soccer team released the 2005 schedule Wednesday. Six NCAA Tournament participants and two top-25 teams highlight the BYU women's soccer season. The Cougars will play a total of 18 games, 10 at home and 8 on the road.

"We are very excited about our schedule this season," head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. "We will be challenged both and home and on the road, but we are expecting to be an even stronger team than we were last year."

The Cougars finished with a 15-2-4 record in 2005, the best in BYU history, and expects to become a more dominant team this year.

Home games will be played at South Stadium in Provo. The first look at the 2006 team will be at the traditional Blue & White game on Aug. 16, when the current team will take on past players.

Three days later, BYU will host Southern Utah in a exhibition game at South Stadium. The Cougars are also looking to add another exhibition game to its preseason schedule.

BYU kicks its season off with two home games on Aug. 25 and 29 against Weber State and Idaho State before traveling to Athens, Georgia on Sept. 1 to take on the Bulldogs.

The following weekend, BYU faces two 2005 NCAA Tournament participants, playing Colorado and Fresno State on Sept. 8 and 9, respectively.

BYU then hits the road for four games, playing Pacific on Sept. 14, Utah State on Sept. 16, Washington on Sept. 21 and Washington State on Sept. 22.

Returning to the confines of South Stadium, the Cougars play Arizona on Sept. 25 and San Francisco on Sept. 30.

The Conference season begins on the road for BYU as the teams takes on TCU and Utah on Oct. 5 and 7, respectively.

After three homes games against San Diego State on Oct. 12, Air Force on Oct. 14 and Oct. 19, the Cougars travel to Albuquerque on Oct. 21 to face New Mexico in their final road game of the season.

BYU finishes its regular season at home against UNLV on Oct. 28.

This year's Mountain West Conference Tournament will be played in Salt Lake City, November 1-4.
