RICHMOND -- The No. 12 BYU Cougars finished their second day of competition at the PING/Golfweek Preview Tuesday at the Golden Horseshoe Country Club.
The PING Preview is one of the toughest tournaments of the season for the Cougars as it is a preview for the upcoming 2007 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. The top 15 teams from last year's tournament are competing to see who will be among the best in the country this season and to get a chance to become familiar with the course.
After the second day of play, the Cougars are tied for 12th place.
Clay Ogden and Nick Becker currently lead the BYU team. Both are tied for 34th place.
Even though the tournament is composed of the top-ranking teams in the country, head coach Bruce Brockbank knows the Cougars are capable of finishing high.
"I really want to see us to leave on a good note," said head coach Brockbank. "That way when we return we will have a positive outlook on the course."
The final round of the three-day event begins on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
