STOCKTON -- After two rounds at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational, BYU sits tied for tenth place at 8-under-par and sophomore Robbie Fillmore (Salt Lake City, Utah) leads the team tied for 12th place at 6-under-par.
The three-day tournament is being held at the par-72 Brookside Country Club, with tournament tees set at 6,777 yards. There are 14 schools participating in the tournament, and Kansas State currently leads at 29-under-par.
"We played pretty good through 15 holes today," BYU head men's golf coach Bruce Brockbank said. "We're showing signs of improvement, and we're getting our share of birdies out there. The weather has been perfect and the course is in good shape. We'll see if we can make a few more birdies coming in tomorrow."
Fillmore drained six birdies in Tuesday's round, with three on the front nine and three on the back. After the round, he said he was pleased with his team's performance, but also said he knows the team can shoot lower scores.
"We gave up shots coming in the last two days, and it's frustrating knowing we could be higher than we are," Fillmore said. "I think to be posting the numbers we are is a lot better than we were playing earlier this season, though. A few numbers under par is pretty good any way you look at it."
The final round of the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational will be played Wednesday, and it will be the last competitive round the team will play before the end of the year.
