PROVO -- BYU's third week of spring practice started with plenty of offensive success as quarterback Max Hall threw two touchdown passes on the day. After a poor showing last Friday, the offensive veterans bounced back and proved why they are one of the top ranked teams in the nation.

"Spring should go back-and-forth," said BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall. "Anytime one side has a better day, the next day you hope the other side responds. I think the [offense] did that today."

As the team came together for no-contact 11-on-11 drills, Harvey Unga started things out with a five-yard rush. Hall connected with Austin Collie on a 15-yard pass, before Fui Vakapuna got in on the action and contributed his own five-yard run. A four-yard pass to Michael Reed set up a third-down situation on the 31-yard line. Hall found Andrew George over the middle, and the tight end ran it into the end zone.

Leading the second team, Kurt McEuen hit Landon Jaussi with an eight-yard pass to start the drive. J.J. DiLuigi and Isaac Taylor ran for a combined 13-yards before McEuen was forced to scramble and throw the first incompletion on the day.

Vakapuna recorded another five-yard run to begin the third drive. The offense quickly made its way down the field on back-to-back 10-yard passes to Reed and George. A would-be touchdown pass from Hall to Collie was called back after a quick whistle was made, indicating a sack on Hall. Not to be discouraged, Hall threw two consecutive passes to Reed for a combined 13 yards, and soon found Dennis Pitta in the end zone for his lone catch on the day.

Hall finished the day with 107 yards after completing 10-of 11 passes, while Reed recorded a team-high 27 yards on four receptions.
