PROVO -- Season tickets for the 2008 BYU women's soccer season go on sale to the general public July 17th. Reserved seat season tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Marriott Center Ticket Office (800-322-BYU1 or 801-422-BYU1, hours 9 a.m. -- 5 p.m.) or online by visiting BYUtickets.com.
Coinciding with major renovations at South Field, this is the first time season tickets have been offered for the women's soccer team.
"The team has had such tremendous support from our fans over the past several years," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "We are very excited to be able to provide them the opportunity to attend our games in a first class stadium."
Tickets went on sale to Cougar Club members July 10th.
The Cougars open the 2008 home season on Labor Day weekend against Georgia on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7:00 p.m. Pac-10 power Arizona will visit Provo on Monday, Sept. 1 for a game at 4:00 p.m. Later in the season, BYU will also take on Michigan State at home on Friday, Sept. 19 in a game scheduled to kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
The project began on March 17, and the projected completion date is August 14. The finished project will feature a permanent grandstand of 20 rows that will accommodate 2,228 spectators in chair and bench-back seating. 900 of the seats are reserved. The complex will also feature a new entrance and new lighting fixtures to enhance the atmosphere during night games.
"We are grateful for the donors, administration, and BYU staff who have made the new stadium a reality," said Rockwood. The team is anxious to open the season at the end of August and hope to play in front of a capacity crowd."
2007 Mountain West Conference tournament champions, the 2008 BYU women's soccer team will play eight games at home during the course of the season.
Cougar fans can join the official Women's Soccer texting group by texting the words "WSOC" to the number 83043. Members of the group will receive reminders about game times, information about ticket discounts and other promotions.
