TUCSON -- With only a couple of holes left to finish their second round today, No.19 BYU is three shots from the lead at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson.

Darkness quickly approached leaving more than three-fourths of the field with holes to play. Coming out of a two-month break, the Cougars shot a first round of two-under-par 282 and were 13-under-par at the time play was suspended. No. 15 UNLV led the field with a 17-under par.

Senior Jake Ellison came back strong from the off-season and led the team with a six-under-par 136. He is currently third, three strokes from Arizona's Brian Pouty.

"It's nice to be playing outside again," said Ellison, "I hit the ball really well and made good putts. I'm happy with how I played."

Two other Cougars had enough daylight to finish the 36 holes. Freshman Robbie Fillmore shot even-par for the day. Teammate Nick Becker started with a 75 but came back and shot a three-under-par 68 in the afternoon round.

"It was good to see Nick play well in the second round," said Head coach Bruce Brockbank, "He didn't post a score in the morning but he came back and put up a good score for us in the second eighteen. This helps the team confidence a great deal."

Clay Ogden and Daniel Summerhays round up the Cougars. Ogden is currently one-under-par and Summerhays is three-under-par. They both have one more hole to play.

The PING Arizona continues tomorrow, when the Cougars are scheduled to tee-off starting at 8:00. Follow them live on the Internet at www.golfstat.com
