PROVO -- The BYU women’s soccer team will get a chance to play on the field that hosted the 2009 Women’s Soccer College Cup this weekend when it heads down to College Station, Texas, for its last road trip of the spring schedule.

BYU’s first game will be against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks with the second game against the Texas A&M Aggies. Both games will be played on Friday, April 2.

"We are really looking forward the the opportunity to play in College Station this weekend," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "Coach Guerrieri and his staff do such a great job of hosting tournaments as well as developing one of the top college soccer programs in the country."

The Aggies were featured not only for hosting the 2009 College Cup tournament but also by their advancement to Round 3 with wins over Memphis and LSU. The Aggies finished the season with a 15-7-3 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 10th time in program history. They lost 0-1 to Florida State (19-5-1) in a double overtime decision.

Stephen F. Austin ended its season at the hands of Southeastern Louisiana in the quarterfinals of the Southland Conference tournament with a 4-3 verdict decided in a shootout. SFA finished the season at 10-8-2, the sixth time in its program history for the Ladyjacks to post double-digit wins.

"The two games will be a strong challenge for our team and provide us with a great learning experience." Rockwood said.

The Cougars have gone 5-2 this spring with their most recent wins coming against UNLV and Nevada.

The road games in Texas will give BYU a chance to play two very competitive teams in a championship atmosphere as they close out their spring schedule and prepare for fall action.

"Our staff has been very pleased with our spring training and games thus far and, with just one week left in our season, we hope to continue in a positive direction," Rockwood said. "We have seen great improvement from our players over the past few months. They have been dedicated and disciplined in their training."

After their two games in Texas, the Cougars will return home for their annual outdoor spring tournament on April 10.
