PROVO, Utah - No. 22 BYU will honor veterans during the gymnastics meet this Friday at 7 p.m. when Air Force comes to compete at the Smith Fieldhouse.

"I'm really excited that we get to compete this week," head coach Guard Young said. "We'll probably run some different lineups. This is a great chance to rest some girls and maybe let a few others compete instead."

Air Force comes to BYU in what will be the third-straight home meet of the season. After a record-breaking crowd last Friday and earning the highest team score on beam this season, the Cougars look forward to continuing the streak of home wins.

Last week, Mackenzie Douglas repeated as Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) Floor Specialist of the Week with her 9.875 on floor. In the meet against Southern Utah, Shannon Hortman Evans and Brittni Hawes led the Cougars on bars with scores of 9.850. Freshman Avery Bennett and senior Douglas both recorded 9.800 on vault, giving the team its highest vault score of the season.

"There's still room for us to improve and clean up," Young said. "We need to look at the details of the routines. We didn't earn a lot of 9.900 scores last weekend, so we will be cleaning those up."

BYU's ROTC will post the nation's colors followed by a live performance of the national anthem. The team will also recognize veterans in attendance. The meet will be broadcast live on BYUtv and streamed on BYUtv.org. Live stats can be found through the schedule page
