Rockwood releases 2019 schedule

PROVO, Utah – BYU women's soccer head coach Jennifer Rockwood announced the schedule for the 2019 fall season on Wednesday.

The slate is highlighted by competition against opponents throughout the United States. The Cougars take on six teams from Power 5 conferences, including three against the SEC, two against the Big 12 and one against the PAC-12. The schedule features a pair of former national champions and two teams that were ranked in the United Soccer Coaches 2018 postseason poll.

BYU will open up with the annual Blue and White scrimmage at South Field on Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. MDT. The following weekend, the Cougars will host Colorado College in an exhibition match on Aug. 17.

Regular season play kicks off with a pair of games on the road against Alabama and Mississippi State. The matchups will be the first with the Cougars and will take place on Thursday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 24.

BYU's home opener will be against in-state foe Southern Utah on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. MDT. This will be the third official time the Thunderbirds have competed at South Field, with the Cougars most recently earning a 5-0 win in 2003.

On Friday, Sept. 6, the annual Deseret First Duel will take place in Provo as BYU looks for back-to-back wins against the University of Utah. The following week, the Cougars host Texas A&M on Thursday, Sept. 12. The Aggies took a 2-0 win over BYU and finished the 2018 season ranked No. 13 in the nation.

A four-game road trip begins on Monday, Sept. 16, at Utah Valley for the UCCU Crosstown Clash. The Cougars then travel to the Midwest to take on Kansas and Kansas State on Sept. 19 and 21, respectively. BYU will play its last road non-conference matchup against Long Beach State on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The final home game before league play begins will be held at South Field as BYU hosts UC Irvine on Saturday, Sept. 28.

October kicks off West Coast Conference action with the Cougars competing against nationally ranked Santa Clara. BYU edged the Broncos last season, 2-0, taking its sixth WCC title.

Pepperdine and Pacific will compete at South Field on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 12 while Saint Mary's visits on Oct. 18 before the Cougars travel to Portland on Oct. 23. The month closes with a matchup between BYU and San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Cougars' final pair of road games will take place at San Francisco and Gonzaga on Nov. 2 and 6, respectively. Senior night will be on Saturday, Nov. 9, as BYU hosts Loyola Marymount.

Tickets for the 2019 season will be available at byutickets.com, the BYU Ticket Office or at South Field beginning an hour before kickoff. Season and VIP ticket information will be announced shortly.
