BYU junior quarterback Zach Wilson and the Cougars have been prominently featured on a number of national media outlets, including the debut of ESPN's College Football Playoff: Top 25 show on Oct. 27.
A roundtable of ESPN college football analysts, including the College GameDay crew of Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and David Pollack, interviewed Wilson about his development and the Cougars' successful start to the season. "The best teams in the country are the ones that get noticeably better each week," said Wilson during the interview. "We can't be content. We're 6-0 right now but we have a whole half of a season left. So every single week it's what can we improve on. From a team aspect, an individual aspect, everyone needs to find what we can do better and we just need to stay hungry."
"Watching you play, man, the ball never touches the ground," said ESPN analyst Jesse Palmer. "You're making all the throws and your accuracy is off the charts. You're in an offense that pushes the ball deep down the field."
"You should've seen him (Wilson) already," said show host Rece Davis. "If you haven't, this is a really good football team."
After interviewing Wilson, the panel continued to discuss BYU and its postseason prospects. You can watch a replay of the entire BYU segment, here starting at approximately the 26:30 mark.
"Of all the teams I can't wait for four weeks from now that the committee is going to rank, it's BYU, assuming they keep winning," said analyst Kirk Herbstreit. "They're winning by an average of 45-14. What I love is they had so many injuries last year but all those guys are healthy and back and that the people who had to replace them are also back. It's a veteran team, a physical team on both sides with a lot better skill than you might realize at running back and receiver, and at quarterback this guy is playing as well as anybody in the country. So, I like them; I like them a lot."
Through six games, Wilson is No. 2 in passing yards (1,928), completion percentage (78.3) and pass efficiency (210.41) in the FBS. He is among the best deep-ball passers in college football, with the No. 1 efficiency rating on throws of 20 yards or more at 156.3.
On the Jim Rome Show on Oct. 29, Wilson related more about how he has improved and the national attention the Cougars have been receiving. Listen to the full interview here or watch a clip below.
