LOGAN, Utah - On Monday, the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference honored BYU senior Sadie Miner-Van Tassell as Gymnast of the Week for the third week in a row. Along with this award, BYU’s Elease Rollins received a shared honor for Beam Specialist of the Week with USU’s Carley Bayles.
No. 18 BYU scored a season high of 196.775 to take down the No. 21 Utah State Aggies (196.450) in its home opener on Friday, Jan. 28 in the Smith Fieldhouse.
Miner-Van Tassell competed for the All-Around in the meet against Utah State, notching a new career-high score of 39.425 to earn the MRGC Gymnast of the Week honor for the third week in a row. Rollins, a junior from West Jordan, Utah, shared the top spot on the podium on the balance beam with USU’s Carley Bayles with individual scores of 9.925. This score tied Rollin’s career-high score on beam in the first home meet of the season.
