PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s basketball head coach Amber Whiting announced Arizona State transfer Gabby Bosquez has signed with the Cougars for the 2022-23 season.
"I am so excited to have Gabby here and on board with us," Whiting said. "She gives us another playmaker and has Power 5 experience. She is a great kid with a team mindset. Gabby fits our culture and is already inserting herself perfectly.
A 5-foot-7 guard, Bosquez signs with the Cougars after spending the past two seasons at Arizona State. During her time as a Sun Devil, the Kyle, Texas native appeared in 44 games where she averaged 13.4 minutes per contest.
In 2021-22, the Kyle, Texas native appeared in 25 games including a start against Colorado where she played a career-high 36 minutes. She scored a career-high nine points in 16 minutes of action at Washington. During her first season in Tempe, she averaged 7.6 minutes per game.
Prior to joining the Sun Devils, Bosquez spent a season at Blinn College earning Region XIV honors after playing in 31 games. She scored in double figures 21 times en route to averaging 11.9 points per game. She spent her freshman season at St. Edward’s, shooting 40.0 percent from the field and 77.0 percent from the free throw line.
A 2018 graduate of Hays High School in Buda, Texas, she was a four-year basketball varsity starter. She earned Co-District 25-6A MVP as a senior after scoring a district-best 20.0 points per game. She was also a state qualifier on the cross country course and track.
