“We found out what we knew all along really: Oklahoma State is a very, very good team," head coach Ed Eyestone said.  "I liked how my guys got out and kind of put themselves in position early on, but we just didn’t have the kind of day that we needed. We'll go back and get some good training in and have to battle to get on the podium through NCAA Regionals and the National Championships.”

The Cougars continue their streak of 31-consecutive conference championship meets placing first or second as team.

All-American Creed Thompson finished the 8,000-meter course first for the Cougars, placing third overall with a time of 22:54.1. This marks back to back races for the junior to lead the team across the line, having a 10th place finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational just a few weeks ago.

Junior Joey Nokes finished sixth overall with a time of 23:01.9. Nokes and Thompson ran through the first 7k, till Thompson surged ahead in the last 1k. Freshman James Corrigan came in next placing 13th overall in 23:17.5. By placing in the top-15, Thompson, Nokes and Corrigan were named to the Big 12 All-Conference Team.

The standout performance for the Cougars came from freshman newcomer Isaac Headengren who placed 16th overall with a time of 23:21.2. The Big 12 Championships marked Headengren’s first official start for the Cougars, having only raced in the Men’s B Race at the Nuttycombe Invitional in which he placed fourth overall.

Juniors Kenneth Rooks and Junior Lucas Bons finished seconds behind Headengren, placing 16th and 17th respectively. Sophomore Luke Grundvig placed 23rd overall in a time of 23:36.2. Junior Aidan Troutner crossed the finish in 23:57.1 placing 33rd. Sophomore Garrett Stanford followed two seconds later in 34th place with his twin brother Jacob Stanford in 38th.

The Cougars will prepare to compete at the NCAA Mountain Regionals held in Lubbock, Texas on Friday Nov. 10.
