PROVO, Utah – BYU Women's Tennis Head Coach Holly Hasler has unveiled the team’s 2024 spring schedule, comprising 22 matches over a four-month span. The schedule highlights a 13-game Big 12 Conference slate, marking the Cougars' inaugural year in the league.
The season will begin on Jan. 4 in Hawaii and the home opener will be Friday, Feb. 10 against Weber State. BYU will host its annual Blue vs. White match on Friday, Jan. 26-27, and fans are encouraged to attend.
"We have strengthened our schedule every year since I came in as head coach," said head coach Holly Hasler. "Our goal has always been to play the best teams in the country, and that time is finally here. We are excited for this new adventure, and are ready to rise to the occasion.”
Schedule Notes
First Big 12 Season
As the Cougars embark on their maiden season in the Big 12 Conference, they join a league that boasts two of the last three national championships in women's tennis (Texas in 2021 and 2022).
BYU will face each Big 12 school once, initiating the conference play against UCF in Orlando on Thursday, Feb. 29. The Cougars' first home conference match is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, against Kansas State. Senior day and the season finale will take place in Provo on Saturday, April 13, against West Virginia.
Future Conference Mates
In 2024, the Cougars will compete against two future Big 12 members. BYU starts with a match at Arizona beginning on Friday, Jan. 18, for the Hidden Dual, followed by a trip north to Salt Lake to face in-state rival Utah on Friday, Feb. 9.
In-State Foes
In addition to the home opener against Weber State, BYU will travel to Cache Valley for a matchup against Utah State on Friday, Feb. 2. The Cougars dominated both the Wildcats (7-0) in Ogden and the Aggies (7-0) in Provo last year. Following a victory over the No. 44 ranked Utes (4-0) in Provo, BYU will once again face Utah in 2024.
Home Court Advantage
BYU boasts a strong 31-11 home record over the past five years. The 2024 schedule includes eight home matches, providing the Cougars with more opportunities to strengthen their home record. BYU will host six Big 12 Conference teams, marking the inaugural season for the Cougars in the league.
