PROVO, Utah — BYU women's tennis head coach Holly Hasler announced the signing of transfer Kendall Kovick on Thursday.

Kovick arrives at BYU after beginning her collegiate career at West Virginia.

As a freshman with the Mountaineers in 2021-2022, Kovick took the No. 1 singles spot on the roster with a 24-37 record. The Las Vegas native spent much of the season in the No. 2 doubles spot and was one of five girls on the team to post 20-plus wins on the season.

The 5-foot-1 right-hander from Las Vegas, Nevada prepped at Odyssey Charter High School, where she reached as high as second in the nation on USTA Girls U18. Kovick was a part of the 2021 Girls Recruiting class where she ranked No. 46 in the group.

"I think the biggest factor in why I chose BYU is how much it felt like a family," said Kovick. "I have known (BYU women's tennis head coach) Holly (Hasler) most of my junior career and I am blessed to have her be my coach. I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better program or people to be around for the rest of my collegiate career and I am thankful for Holly and (assistant coach) Gabby (Curtis) giving me a second chance at college tennis."

Kovick joins BYU as a junior with two seasons left to play.
