SAN DIEGO — The USTA Intercollegiate Classic concluded with junior Kendall Kovick and sophomore Tina Li securing singles victories over the weekend. Three Cougars competed in the tournament hosted by the University of San Diego, with junior Jacque Dunyon and Li going undefeated in doubles as well.
"It was a great weekend in San Diego. We went for high-level matches at sea level, and that's exactly what we got," said BYU women's tennis head coach Holly Hasler. "Tina and Jacque came out strong on Saturday and dominated in doubles, while Kendall secured her first singles win as a Cougar. Our goal was to learn and improve with each match, and that's precisely what we achieved. The fall season can often start a bit rusty, and I was pleased with the way the girls battled."
In singles, Kovick went 1-2 and secured her first singles victory with the Cougars. Li went 1-1 in singles, while Dunyon went 0-2. Dunyon and Li finished 2-0 in doubles play.

Dunyon and Li's exceptional doubles tournament included victories over new conference foe Texas and an upset of former conference mate Portland in the quarterfinals. Despite advancing, Dunyon and Li withdrew from the semifinal due to it being played on Sunday.
