Astle and Dunyon awarded Doubles ITA National Preseason Ranking

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) unveiled its Division I Preseason Rankings on Tuesday, placing Emilee Astle and Jacque Dunyon at No. 30 among all doubles teams.

Provo, Utah — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) unveiled its Division I Preseason Rankings on Tuesday, placing Emilee Astle and Jacque Dunyon at No. 30 among all doubles teams.

Astle and Dunyon make a return to the team following a successful 2022-23 campaign as a doubles pairing. The dynamic duo compiled a 5-4 record in dual matches, notably securing a victory over the nation's top-ranked doubles team, Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen of Pepperdine, with a score of 6-2. 

On April 18, 2023, Astle and Dunyon received a nomination for the WCC Doubles Team of the Week, recognizing their impressive win over Pepperdine. At the season's end, they were honored with the distinction of All-WCC Second Team Doubles.

Senior captain Astle returns with eight singles victories and ten doubles victories from last year. Her outstanding academic performance also earned her recognition as a CSC Academic All-District athlete.

Junior Dunyon achieved an impressive 13 singles victories and nine doubles victories in 2022-23.

BYU is poised to embark on its inaugural season in the Big 12 this fall, although Big 12 dual matches are scheduled for the spring season. The Cougars' first match of the 2023 fall season is slated for Thursday, Sept, 14, as they compete in the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains at Air Force.
