Women's swim and dive racks up 406 points in day one at home meet

BYU women’s swim and dive put on a dominant showing with 406 points in day one of competition at the Richards Building Pool on Friday versus Air Force and Colorado Mesa.

PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s swim and dive put on a dominant showing with 406 points in day one of competition at the Richards Building Pool on Friday versus Air Force and Colorado Mesa.

CMU scored 310 points on Friday and Air Force 308.

BYU won eight of 10 events with Emma Marusakova and Halli Williams posting a team-high 32 and 26 points, respectively.

Marusakova won the 200 individual medley in 2:05.69 then took another event win with her after going 2:02.62 in the 200 back. Williams clocked 23.57 to win the 50 free and lead five BYU swimmers in each of the top-five spots.

Julia Bartell went 51.79 to win the 100 free while distance-specialist Regan Geldmacher took the 500 free in 4:59.80. Mackenzie Lung won the Cougars’ final individual event of the night with a time of 2:20.62 in the 200 breast.

Alexia Jackson, Brooklyn Larson and Aubryn Ordyna controlled the top-three spots in 3-meter diving with Jackson winning at 308.80.

BYU finished the night strong with a 200 free relay win at 1:34.21 courtesy Tatum Cooley, Bartell, Lily Flint and Williams.

Competition resumes for the Cougars, Falcons and Mavericks on Saturday at 11 a.m. MST.
