SAN DIEGO - Zoey Bonds sits in third place after day one of the heptathlon at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University.
Women's Recap
Bonds led the Cougar women as she recorded three outdoor personal bests: 1.68-meters/5-6.25 in the high jump, 10.40m/34-1.5 in the shot put and 25.97 in the 200m. Her day one total of 3124 points is also a personal best for the sophomore.
Maddy Eaton is currently in eighth place with 2908 points. She had outdoor personal bests of her own in the shot put throwing 9.66m/31-9.5 and 200m running 25.32.
Cameron Bird is in 10th with 2880 points earning personal bests in the high jump and 200m jumping 1.53m/5-0.25 and running 26.08.
Freshman Brinnlee Wilde is in the 13th spot with 2696 points earning personal bests in all four of the day's events: 14.95 in the 100m hurdles, 1.56m/5-1.25 in the high jump, 8.24m/27-0.5 in the shot put and 26.62 in the 200m.
The women will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800m tomorrow to finish out the seven-event competition.
Men's Recap
Aaron Wood leads the Cougars in the decathlon through day one of competition. He currently sites in sixth place with 3320 points. Wood ran 11.55 in the 100m, long jumped 6.30m/20-8, shot put 10.28m/33-8.75, high jumped 1.89m/6-2.25 and clocked 52.14 in the 400m.
Jaden Roskelley opened up the day with an 11.08 personal-best time in the 100m. He then placed second in the long jump with a 7.02m/23-0.5 mark and threw the shot put to 12.16m/39-10.75. Roskelley missed his first three attempts in the high jump and did not score in the event. However, he finished off day one with a personal best in the 400m winning his heat in 51.51. Roskelley sits 10th overall with 3023 points.
The men will compete in the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m on day two of the decathlon.
