PROVO, Utah — Three Cougars will travel to Cary, North Carolina this weekend to compete in the ITA All-American Championships for women's tennis.
BYU's Sue Yan Tan, Kendall Kovick and Bobo Huang will begin their fall season on Sep. 21, with Huang playing in the singles round of 128 and Tan and Kovick in the doubles round of 32.
Tournament Schedule and Format
Singles: One pre-qualifying draw, with a maximum of 128 players. The winning players will advance to the main draw of 64, and there will be a consolation draw of 64 teams for first-round losers.
Doubles: One pre-qualifying draw, with a maximum of 32 teams. The winning players will advance to the main draw of 16, and there will be a consolation draw of 16 teams for first-round losers.
The Cougars
The freshman from Singapore holds six ITF Junior titles and will make her collegiate debut in North Carolina.
The senior and Las Vegas, Nevada native currently has a 9-7 doubles record from her 2023-24 season as a Cougar.
Huang is a senior from China and competed in her home country this summer, winning five ITF doubles titles and one singles title.
Coaching Staff
Head coach Holly Hasler is in her seventh season at BYU and currently holds a 75-55 record from her last six years coaching the Cougars.
Assistant coach Anastasia Hayden was hired in July 2024 and returns after playing for BYU from 2004-09.
NCAA Championships Qualifications
The ITA All-American Championships will determine the qualifiers of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
The eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships, and the four main draw semifinalists will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships.
Tournament Schedule
The official schedule and draws for singles and doubles will be posted on the ITA tournament website. The championships begin on Sep. 21 and last until the 29.
