PROVO, Utah — BYU women's tennis head coach Holly Hasler announced the hiring of former BYU women's tennis player Anastasia Hayden on Friday.

Formerly known as Anastasia Surkova, Hayden was one of the most dominant BYU tennis players in program history. She attended BYU from 2004-09 and made it to several championships and regionals. Hayden was also named the Central Region's Senior Player of the Year.

Hayden's 91 career singles victories rank her third in BYU women's tennis history, and she also is third in winning percentage (.750), first in doubles victories with partner Jennifer Miccoli (73) and fourth in doubles winning percentage (.745).

"I couldn't be more excited for Anastasia to join our BYU women's tennis staff," Hasler said. "Twenty years ago, I had the privilege of coaching Anastasia as a BYU student-athlete, and we are ecstatic for her return. She was one of the best female singles and doubles tennis players to come through our program. Anastasia's knowledge and expertise will be a valuable addition to our team, and it will be a privilege to work alongside her."

Hayden joins the women's tennis staff with both playing and coaching experience. She was an undergraduate assistant with BYU women's tennis from 2009-10, volunteered with the team at the Rice Invitational and most recently coached at Ivory Ridge and SunPro tennis clubs.

"I'm so grateful to come back to BYU and join the women's tennis team in this new capacity," Hayden said. "I'm excited to push our limits and see what we can achieve with these incredible student-athletes. Go Cougs!"

Hayden graduated from BYU with a bachelor of science in social psychology. Originally from Russia, she is married to Bryce Hayden. Anastasia and Bryce have two children.
