Cougars tied for eighth after 36 holes at Dick McGuire Invitational

BYU women’s golf is tied for eighth after the opening 36 holes of the Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday. The Cougars carded rounds of 291 and 305 to shoot a 20-over 596 on day one.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – BYU women’s golf is tied for eighth after the opening 36 holes of the Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday. The Cougars carded rounds of 291 and 305 to shoot a 20-over 596 on day one.

The Cougars opened the 2024-25 season with a 3-over 291 in round one and 17-over 305 in round two to sit tied for eighth going into the final round on Tuesday.

UNLV (288-288–576) leads after the Rebels posted an even-par first 36 holes.

Sophomore Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan led BYU on day one as she sits in a tie for fifth with rounds of 70-72–142 for a 2-under par total. Barragan made three birdies in each round.

Whitney Banz is tied for 34th after shooting 6-over through the first two rounds, with scores of 72 and 78. Both Sunbin Seo (77-75–152) and Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul (72-80–152) are tied for 45th at 8-over.

Junior Lily McCauley sits tied for 70th after carding scores of 77-81–158 to sit at 9-over on the day.
